Bela Padilla is one of the most bankable actresses in the Philippines today. Not only is she beautiful and sexy – she’s really talented!
In the past years, Bela starred in a number of movies that are considered as box-office hits and critically acclaimed. As a big fan, I am happy to share my Top 5 Favorite Bela Padilla Movies:
1. 100 Tula Para Kay Stella
The biggest hit of the very 1st Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino! For me, this is the movie that made Bela Padilla a box-office star. In this Jason Paul Laxamana film, she plays the role of Stella, a college student who is in a rock band who caught the attention of the stuttering poet Fidel. An unlikely but special friendship developed between the two and eventually, they developed romantic feelings.
The movie is relatable especially for those who spent their college years in the province. I end up crying in the scene where Stella and Fidel reunited in Pampanga infront of the Mt. Arayat. “Hindi na puwede, eh..”
2. Meet Me in St. Gallen
Jesse and Celeste forever! This movie is a great comeback of Carlo Aquino as a leading man. The movie penned and directed by Irene Villamore is divided in three sections: A chance meeting in Manila, a coincidental meeting in a coffee shop and in St. Gallen in Switzerland. The movie is a perfect example of “we have the right love at the wrong time”. I sad there in the movie house still hoping for another scene for a happy ending (SPOILER: It’s Not!).
Bela Padilla continues to soar in 2018 with three blockbuster films and upcoming endeavors. Here’s a recap on what our favorite actress has achieved last year:
1. Meet Me in St. Gallen
A rom-com film which stars Bela Padilla along with Carlo Aquino, the storyline delineates how fate tries to bring together two complete strangers. Celeste, Bela’s character in the movie, carefully mustered the ingredients for a feasible and beautiful romantic tale, only to abruptly loosen their ties and reinforcing one thing: Jesse and Celeste’s love story is seemingly impossible to attain.
2. The Day After Valentine’s
One of the eight featured films under Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino (PPP) for 2018. This film is the second film that Bela had with JC Santos (100 Tula Para Kay Stella being the first) and was also a part of PPP in 2017. The shortest, most honest summary of the movie for me: When a broken hearted girl tries to fix a broken hearted boy, what could possibly go wrong?
JC Santos and Bela Padilla are reunited for the 2018 Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino for Jason Paul Laxamana’s ‘The Day After Valentine’s’
Kai (JC Santos), a distraught man meets Lani (Bela Padilla), a strong, confident woman who seems to have answers to all of life’s most difficult questions. Kai realizes that with Lani’s wisdom and “go-get” attitude, he may be able to fix everything in his life.
